Kit Hammond Stapely is not a doctor – nor a nurse – nor has received any kind of conventional medicine training
She is different kind of medical expert. Her experience has been on the other side, on the cliff face, as the one receiving diagnoses, treatments, prognoses. In the 90’s her oncological medical team at The London Clinic repeatedly invited her to present to the nurses so that they understood better the experience of being a patient.
This century, her expertise is in defying her cancer doctors’ advice and instead developing, learning to trust and follow her individual intuition to multiple successful outcomes.
Her first powerful patient experience happened in her youth and early adulthood when she decided that she didn’t want to be an epileptic any more and found out that she knew more about her experience of her epilepsy than any of her distinguished neurologists. Then, aged 40, she was diagnosed with ‘incurable cancer’.
When she was told it was incurable but treatable Follicular Lymphoma in 1992, she initially followed the prevailing medical advice. It was only when they had literally used up every chemo drug available and her wonderful oncologist said there was nothing left that he could do but, “I promise you I won’t let you suffer” that she realised that she wasn’t prepared to die and wanted a miracle. With that she started reclaiming her own power.
That was in 1998. She says, “My New York oncologist and my London oncologist and my then-husband, who all believed implicitly in my imminent demise, are all dead. I’m still here. Go figure.”
Since then she has fought to build her health and immune system which were shattered by the prodigious amounts of cytotoxic and other pharmaceuticals she was given in the 1990s. This struggle happened in the background as she received four further cancer and several other dismal diagnoses. In each case she was seen not as an individual with a complicated medical past but as someone who fitted into a specialist’s narrow niche. In the process she has developed a veritable library of ‘other approaches’, a network of amazing practitioners to recommend and knowledge and experience of how to become your true, powerful self and to really face the fear and truly live and enjoy every day of your life
She and her (second) husband, Simon, have created a holistic centre as a hub for truly individual treatments enhanced by her training and experience as a holistic health practitioner in:
Laughter therapy
Heal Your Life teaching
Health Creation Mentoring
Relationship coaching
With her unequalled experience in dodging bullets from the medical professionals she encourages their clients to learn to listen to and trust their own powerful and individual intuition. She believes passionately that conventional ‘cookie-cutter’ medicine which treats everybody as ‘standard issue’ and separates their medical conditions from the circumstances of their life would have killed her long ago without her direct intervention.
